Il passion fruit è un frutto originario del Brasile, del Paraguay e dell'Argentina settentrionale. Chiamato anche maracuja, ha una forma ovale e la sua buccia può essere di colore viola, giallo o rosso. Oltre a mangiarlo al naturale può anche essere utilizzato per diverse preparazioni. In particolare viene utilizzato in cucina per preparare torte, mousse, sorbetti, cocktail, succhi e marmellate.
